Sustainability is a cross-curriculum priority for the Australian curriculum.
There are many opportunities to integrate sustainability into the curriculum through:
- learning content: developing students knowledge, understanding and skills about sustainability issues
- pedagogy: student centred and action based learning, learning outside in nature, systems and critical thinking.
Undertaking a curriculum review or audit is a useful tool to assess where sustainability is being addressed within your school curriculum.

Sustainability Action Process
The Sustainability Action Process (SAP) is a preferred pedagogical approach for teaching sustainability. It is a student-centred, project based methodology guiding students from investigating a sustainability issue, to developing and implementing a solution.
